Frognerparken is full of beautiful spots, but some stand out. Here are our top 10 favourites – from the iconic Monolith to the hidden corners that even many Oslo residents don't know about.
Frognerparken is Oslo's green heart, and with 450 acres to explore there is much to discover. Here are the 10 spots we think are absolutely most beautiful.
1. The Monolith at Sunrise When the sun rises over the horizon and casts its first light on the Monolith, it is a sight that takes your breath away. Come early – around 6–7am – to experience this magical moment almost alone.
2. The Fountain Plaza in the Evening The fountain is beautiful at all times, but in the evening when the light reflects in the water and the visitors have gone, there is something truly special.
3. The Sinnataggen Bridge The entire Vigeland Bridge is a work of art, but there is something about Sinnataggen and the surrounding sculptures that always stops people in their tracks.
4. The Rose Garden Few people know that Frognerparken has a beautiful rose garden in the southern part. In summer it is full of colour and fragrance.
5. The Pond with Swans The small pond in the park is a peaceful retreat. The swans that live here have become a familiar sight for regular park visitors.
6. Frogner Manor The historic manor house in the middle of the park is a beautiful example of old architecture surrounded by greenery.
7. The Wheel of Life This sculpture in the southern part is less well known, but incredibly beautiful and symbolic.
8. The View from the Monolith Platform From the top of the platform around the Monolith you have a fantastic view over the entire park and Oslo in the background.
9. The Playground in the Morning Early in the morning, before the children arrive, the playgrounds are surrounded by silence and dew on the grass.
10. The Northern Path The northern path along the park's edge is little used, but offers beautiful views and tranquillity.
