Guide to a Perfect Day in Frognerparken

Planning a visit to Frognerparken? Here is our complete guide to experiencing the best the park has to offer – from morning to evening.

A perfect day in Frognerparken starts early and ends late. Here is our recommended plan.

Morning (8–10am) Start the day with an early visit to the Monolith. The park is almost empty, the light is soft, and the atmosphere is magical. Bring coffee in a thermos and enjoy the silence.

Late Morning (10am–12pm) Explore the Vigeland Bridge thoroughly. Look at all 58 bronze statues and find Sinnataggen. Take photos from all angles.

Lunch (12–1pm) A picnic on the grass by the fountain is a classic. Bring a packed lunch, or buy something from one of the kiosks in the park.

Afternoon (1–3pm) Visit the Vigeland Museum to learn more about the artist behind the sculptures. The museum is small but fascinating.

Late Afternoon (3–5pm) Explore the quieter parts of the park – the rose garden, the pond, and the northern paths. Many of these spots are unknown even to regular park visitors.

Evening (5pm onwards) End the day by seeing the Monolith in evening light. If you are lucky, you might experience a beautiful sunset behind the sculpture.
